On July 9th, 2008 Sondra was presented with the "2008 Best Dance Instructor" award by Minnesota Bride Magazine, the biggest Bridal Resource in the state, as several hundreds of Minnesota's finest in the wedding industry gathered at the prestigious Calhoun Beach Club to honor the Best of 2008 and launch the new Fall/Winter Issue.
Here is what the magazine wrote about Sondra with My Wedding Dance:
"Not all couples know how to dance. Sondra Chan of My Wedding Dance regularly comes to the rescue of those who suddenly realize they're dealing with four feet. She listens to their first dance song and based on the rhythm and style, recommends the Foxtrot, Waltz or Rumba. Then, she tailors each dance to fit the tune, and tone, working one-on-one with couples. "My fiancé was skeptical about dance lessons and yet didn't want to look foolish on the dance floor under the spotlight. " says the Bride Trisha Witte. "Sondra put him at ease and gave us tips for what to do if we misstep or step on each other."
Minnesota Bride continues."Chan, who trained at Arthur Marray Dance Studio and will soon be one of 10 Minnesota instructors certified by Dance Vision International Dance Association also offers group lessons at LIfetime Fitness through her other company: GottaDanceNOW.
March 2009 Sondra passed both exams and is indeed certified with Dance Vision International Dance Association, in both Smooth and Rhythm.
Sondra Chan was again presented with the "2009 Best Dance Instructor" award by Minnesota Bride Magazine. Sondra won over all Arthur Murray instructors and all other studios in Minnesota!
Here's what was written in the 2009 article:
"Sondra was patient with us and worked with what we did best. Rather than dictating her ways on us, she worked with our flow and enhanced it. She makes the lessons incredibly fun and we looked forward to each one, as a date night, and vowed to continue as time and schedule allowed." - Nancy Galliger, married October 11th, 2008 at Assumption Church, reception at the Crowne Plaza in Saint Paul.
